Too much of a good thing...

I was scrapbooking and Marie really wanted to help me... so I gave her a couple papers with designs that I didn't like for her to cut up. I was super excited to teach her how to use scissors. You can't scrapbook without knowing how to use scissors, so this is a must know ability!
Marie did pretty well. She would put the paper in and then close the scissors to cut the paper... but she always had to use two hands to open the scissors. She chopped away at the paper for quite awhile and I got some good scrapbooking in. The one thing that I will remember next time is to immediately take the scissors away after she is done! She decided to try out her scissors on her chair and now the foam is showing... she just isn't ready for scrapbooking yet or maybe I am not ready for the consequences.
Claire loves to put on accessories... I believe you can have too much of a good thing, but Claire doesn't see eye to eye with me on that one yet. She will go into the bathroom and put on three headbands and then walk around the house constantly putting them back on as they fall off. She is hilarious!

Little Tidbits

Marie lately hasn't been sleeping in her bed... I don't know if she is afraid of the dark or thinks something is under the bed, but she loves to sleep on the couch! In the picture she had gone to sleep on the bed, but then slowly fell off one side...
We have a little fold out play tunnel that the girls just love! I love it too when they can't go outside because it has been too windy. It gives them someway to run around and burn some energy.
These girls know how to have a great time!
In honor of Valentine's, I made another cookie jar lid! I just painted the two wooden hearts and then put a couple strips of ribbon. It turned out pretty cute!
Claire is more of a climber than Marie ever has been... so we had to make some modifications to our kitchen arrangement!
Those girls are born dirt bikers!
I don't think a picture of our recently acquired scull made it onto the blog... so we now have a new decoration! Teddy's dream come true.
I saw this idea in the Family Fun magazine and I thought it was cute. Since Marie doesn't know her phone number, but she does know how to run around like a crazy animal... I thought this would be a good idea when we go to highly populated areas.

Happy Birthday to Claire!!

Claire got a good stash of birthday presents! She was super excited about them. Marie was also super excited to help open them.
Our neighbors got her this lawn mower to prepare her for Ohio... I have thoroughly enjoyed not having to mow!
Buckets and shovels, stuffed animals, and cute outfits!
Claire's birthday cake before she dug in!
Marie highly approved of the food, but she wasn't quite sure how to eat it in the holder... so she ate from the frosting down.
Claire actually didn't eat much of hers at all... she did have a great time playing with it though!
What a messy little one year old! Happy Birthday Claire!

Pa is practicing...

I just love this picture of Claire. She has a huge grin on her face placing dress up with Marie!
Marie is so thankful for Claire! She often gives her kisses and just loves her up!
Claire is thankful for Nutella sandwiches.
I am not sure if she put this chalk on her face on purpose or if that is just what happens when 2 yr olds play with chalk!
 Pa did Marie's hair...
I think he might need more practice.

I can't believe it's butter!

So Marie can get her own snacks now that she is older... but this was not the snack that we were expecting her to pick! We looked over at her table and were shocked to see that she had gotten into the fridge to get a chunk of butter for her snack! Gross!
I guess that I am not the only one that thinks getting groceries with two girlies is a workout! They both passed out after the first two minutes of driving home.
Marie's modesty moment! (more of a lesson for ma to learn how to make clothes more modest)
I am not a fan of wearing tang tops under shirts for Marie... I like the simple, slip it on shirts and you are ready to go. So I used some of the heat bond stuff to attach this piece of white cloth to her shirt! It was a successful lesson for ma!

Red Rock Canyon State Park

We decided that we would delve deeper into the Red Rock Canyon State Park since it is so close to our home. We have stopped and played on the rocks right next to the road, but we thought they deserved another visit.
We climbed up into the cracks and it was pretty neat! The rocks felt more like mud and would crumble beneath your fingers. I don't know how they have been around as long as they have!
While walking on the trails, Claire rode on Pa's shoulders. He would go to tip her off the side and she just though it was hilarious! She loved almost falling off!
Marie was quite the little runner! She ran all over those trails and loved playing on the big rocks.
Marie climbed up into one of the cracks all by herself. She is a rock climber in the making. She is going to be a great climber! She made it into all the little holes, but sometimes needed help getting out... Claire didn't like the uneven walking surface. She kept wiping out and wondered what the heck was going on with the floor.
